During the Indoor Orientation, participants will receive instruction on cold weather camping including proper clothing and gear, shelter building, fire building, field craft and first aid. .
During the Outdoor Session, participants will hike out to the campsite on Friday night to set up tents for sleeping and on Saturday they will build shelters, demonstrate building a fire and creating a primitively made camp gadget or tool. Participants will spend one night in a tent and one night in the shelter of their own making.
The Northern Lights Winter Camping Seminar is open to both scouts (at least First Class in rank) and adults who want to learn about cold weather camping or expand their existing knowledge and experience in this type of camping.
