Tour and Activity Plan

The Leatherstocking Council Unit Activity Plan has been developed to assist Unit Leaders and
people in charge of District and Council activities to plan for a safe event for our youth. All
Scouts BSA activities shall follow the current Guide to Safe Scouting which can be found on the
BSA website.
The BSA’s general liability insurance policy provides coverage for bodily injury or property
damage that arises out of an official Scouting activity as defined by the Guide to Safe Scouting.
Volunteers, units, chartered organizations, and local councils that engage in unauthorized
activities are jeopardizing their insurance coverage. PLEASE DO NOT PUT YOURSELF AT RISK.
Unit Leaders should use this form and submit it to the Council office for any unit activity outside
of their regular meetings. This includes Den, Pack, Troop, and /or Crew unit trips, unit hikes, and unit campouts. It is not necessary to file a unit plan with the Council office for District or
Council-run activities such as Gold Nugget/Klondike Derbies, Camporees, Day Camp, Summer
Camp, Etc. It is suggested that units verify their leadership and transportation for these
District/ Council activities. “When in doubt, fill it out.”
District and Council Activities require more extensive planning. A separate form is required for
these events including a safety site inspection, Health Officer, budget, etc. The Activity Chair is
responsible for these details.
