Leatherstocking Council Policies

The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness.

Leatherstocking Council Local Youth Protection Policy.

In order to provide the safest Scouting program possible to the young men and women of the Leatherstocking Council, effective immediately, As per the Leatherstocking Council Executive Board’s approved policy, all adults must have a BSA Youth Protection Training with an expiration date later than the “expire date” on your renewal roster.
 

Firewood Policy

Due to concerns over the threat of invasive insect species and wishing to act as good stewards of the Councils’ forests, this committee recommends that the transportation of any firewood into Leatherstocking camps be prohibited. From November 15th to March 31st one load of firewood will be provided for each rented cabin. The cost of these cabins will be increased by $25 per weekend to cover the cost of the firewood. Additional firewood will be available for purchase if needed.
