Education is a valuable tool for all youth regardless of what kind of career they chooses. Yet, finances can be a big hurdle in attaining the necessary knowledge for one's future vocation.
Fortunately, NESA and other orginations can assists Eagle Scouts with their educational pursuits whether it be at a four-year university, vocational trade school or field study opportunities.
Danforth & Marguerite Bolton Eagle Scout Scholarship
The Danforth & Marguerite Bolton Eagle Scout Sholarship for $1000 for two years is awarded to two Eagle Scouts in the Leatherstocking Council.
Applications must be submited by June 1st.
The American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year will receive a $10,000 scholarship. Three runner-up scholarship awards will be granted in the amount of $2,500 each. The scholarship recipients will be eligible to receive their scholarship immediately upon graduation from high school (public, parochial, military, private, or home school)
- Appliactions and supporting documents are suggested to be received at your local Legion Post before January 1st.
- Nominations should be sent from local Legion Post to the county around February 1st.
- County will send Nominations to the department headquarters no later than March 1.

VFW- Scout of the Year Program
The Scout of the Year program provides members of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts who display standout citizenship, patriotism and love of country with the opportunity to be rewarded with college scholarships of up to $5,000.
Deadline for entry to VFW Post is March 1st.

National Eagle Scout Association
The National Eagle Scout Association offers three types of Eagle Scholarships: academic, merit, and field study.
The scholarship window for all scholarships is August 1st through October 31st (ending at midnight Central Standard Time).
The NESA STEM scholarship is awarded to one Eagle Scout annually who plans to major in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics field.
NESA merit scholarships are awarded to Eagle Scouts based on Scouting participation, character, and community service. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors or undergraduate college students no later than completion of their junior year.
$2,000 - $5,000
NESA academic scholarships are awarded to Eagle Scouts based on school and Scouting participation, academic performance, and financial need. All applicants must meet a minimum SAT or ACT score and apply in their senior year of high school if the board of review is held on or before October 31, 2017.
