College Scholarships

Education is a valuable tool for all youth regardless of what kind of career they chooses. Yet, finances can be a big hurdle in attaining the necessary knowledge for one's future vocation.

Fortunately, NESA and other orginations can  assists Eagle Scouts with their educational pursuits whether it be at a four-year university, vocational trade school or field study opportunities.

Danforth & Marguerite Bolton Eagle Scout Scholarship

The Danforth & Marguerite Bolton Eagle Scout Sholarship for $1000 for two years is awarded to two Eagle Scouts in the Leatherstocking Council.

Applications must be submited by July 30th.

American Legion 

The American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year will receive a $10,000 scholarship. Three runner-up scholarship awards will be granted in the amount of $2,500 each. The scholarship recipients will be eligible to receive their scholarship immediately upon graduation from high school (public, parochial, military, private, or home school)

  1. Appliactions and supporting documents are suggested to be received at your local Legion Post before January 1st.
  2. Nominations should be sent from local Legion Post to the county around February 1st.
  3. County will send Nominations to the department headquarters no later than March 1.

Please contact your Legion Post for a exact date Appliacations must be submitted. 

VFW- Scout of the Year Program

The Scout of the Year program provides members of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts who display standout citizenship, patriotism and love of country with the opportunity to be rewarded with college scholarships of up to $5,000.

Deadline for entry to VFW Post is March 1st. 

Before submitting your Scout of the Year application, please review the rules and eligibility requirements.

National Eagle Scout Association

The National Eagle Scout Association offers three types of Eagle Scholarships: academic, merit, and field study.

The scholarship window for all scholarships is August 1st through October 31st (ending at midnight Central Standard Time).
