Safeguarding youth is our highest priority. As part of our continued commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for every young person in our programs, we are excited to announce the launch of the new Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT).
This training reflects a significant investment in updated content, delivery, and compliance standards. SYT is designed to be more engaging, accessible, and aligned with current best practices in youth protection.
How to take the course
Login to my.scouting.org
Click the Safeguarding Youth Logo on the Home Page and it will route you to the correct course.
The new 20 minute Safeguarding Youth(SYT) Refresher Course is online but you must have taken the new 90 minute SYT Course before you are eligible to take the refresher course the following year.
If Your SYT is expired for 7 Days or more, you must take the full 90 minute course again.
If you fail the course quiz on the refresher course on your first attempt with a score under an 80% you will be directed to take the full course.
If your last Course was a YPT course you must take the full 90-minute SYT course before you are eligible to take the refresher. to ensure you get the correct course simply click the SYT logo on the home page on My.Scouting.org or under menu > My Training, click the retake course button.
What You Need to Know:
Deadline: We suggest you don’t wait to take the course. You need to take Safeguarding Youth Training before the date you took it last year.
Why This Matters:
This overhaul is more than a name change. SYT introduces updated modules, clearer policies, and a more robust learning experience to ensure every adult in our movement is equipped to protect and empower youth.
